Sr. Cindy was born and raised in Lowell, Massachusetts. She is the daughter of the late Harold and Ethel (Waterworth) Matthews. She joined the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, NY, in 1968 and attended Bonaventure University. Sr. Cindy worked thirteen years in the business and administration departments of several hospitals operated by the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany. She also spent eight years as a Case Manager for low-income, frail, elderly people in Massachusetts before joining the staff of Holy Cross Parish in 1994.
Rev. Mr. William Toller
Deacon Bill Toller, Deacon for the Diocese of Springfield, is a native of Huntington, West Virginia. Bill, along with his wife Mary, and their three daughters Amy, Laura, and Tracy, have been parishioners at Holy Cross Church since 1977.
Deacon John Miller has been a member of Holy Cross Parish for thirty-seven years. He and Nancy raised a family of three children, all of whom attended Holy Cross Grammar School and Cathedral High School. Both John and Nancy are retired secondary school educators who worked in the public and Catholic school systems. John has served on various committees and commissions in the parish and school. Nancy has also been involved with the parish, principally as a member of the choir. Over the past four years John has studied to become a permanent deacon in the Diocese of Springfield. He was ordained on May 18, 2019. Assigned now to Holy Cross Parish, he will be working in all facets of parish life. With honest gratitude to the Lord and all those good people who supported him in his spiritual growth, John is eager to take on this new ministry in his life.
Bill is a founding member of Holy Cross and has served the parish in different capacities. Currently he serves as Director of Pastoral Music/Organist/Choir Director and Webmaster of the parish web site. He is a member of the American Guild of Organists, the National Pastoral Musician [DMMD], and has diocesan certification in Liturgical Music. He serves at all parish liturgies and is the regular minister of music at funerals and weddings.
