Holy Cross Parish is located in the East Forest Park section of Springfield. It was established in 1949 by then Bishop Thomas M. O'Leary when Holy Name parish, the city's largest at the time, was divided in half. The first Mass in the new Holy Cross church building was held on Easter Sunday 1950, celebrated by Rev. John F. Mitchell our first pastor.
As Roman Catholics, we commit ourselves to grow through celebrating the sacraments, especially the Eucharist, studying the Word and supporting one another.
We are called to reach out to all people, especially the poor and those in need, in a spirit of compassion and love.
